Afterword

Mac Silicon only, other platforms soon download now

hey all,

the writing tool I've been working on for the past few months is finally available in early access.

Afterword is a daily ritual. a focused space for connecting with yourself in a world where our attention is always pulled outward.

think through something you can't untangle. process a hard conversation. figure out what you actually want. or just empty your head before the day starts.

if you're familiar with freewriting, morning pages, or journaling, you'll get it quickly.

if you're new to writing, or you've tried to build the habit and it hasn't stuck, this might be where it does.

what a session looks like

  1. you open Afterword. the interface is minimal. just you and the page. start the focus timer.
  2. you write for 15 minutes, stream of consciousness. whatever comes up, no editing or thinking or second-guessing. just empty everything onto the page.
  3. when you're done, Afterword can respond with a reflection of what you've written, patterns you may have missed, and connections to previous entries you might not have seen yourself.

over time, you build a body of writing. Afterword remembers it. you can explore it, ask questions, surface themes, find threads running through months of entries that you wouldn't have caught on your own.

what it costs

the writing experience is free. open Afterword, write, keep your entries locally as markdown files. yours forever.

the reflection and explore features are $15/month during early access.

under the hood

your entries stay on your computer as plain markdown files. no cloud sync, no account required to write. you own your data completely.

when you use the reflection features, your entry and relevant context are sent securely to generate a response. nothing is stored on Afterword's server. nothing is used to train AI models. the request happens, the response comes back, and that's it.

I'm still shaping this, making it better with your feedback.
